POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the inspection, maintenance and field repair of all electrical equipment on the rig, logistics equipment and associated rig site electrical equipment. Maintain all electrical equipment in accordance with Nabors planned maintenance system and to manufacturers’ specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the regular preventative maintenance activities for the electrical systems and components of engines, air compressors, generators, motors, air conditioners, alarms and general lighting are accomplished.

  • Installs, repairs and tests all electrical equipment at a rig site.

  • Conducts safety inspections of all major pieces of equipment, making repairs, adjustments/calibrations as required.

  • Tests circuit connections using electrical test equipment.

  • Ensures that an adequate amount of spare parts are on hand at all times. Submits requisitions as needed.

  • Prepares and submits daily paperwork, permits, safety and incident reports to comply with Nabors and customers requirements. Maintain all required records, documentation and certifications of electrical equipment.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot, repair and diagnose problems with basic SCR/VFD systems and typical motor control systems.

  • Assists mechanics with repairs of company equipment.

  • Must adhere to company policies, safe work practices and work requirements, including lock-out/tag-out requirements.

  • Participate in rig down/rig up activities to ensure proper disconnect, transportation and connection of electrical equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have knowledge of basic electrical diagnostic equipment for AC and DC service up to 600 V.

  • Must have the ability to identify and correct electrical deficiencies in systems and equipment.

  • General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations/requirements.

  • Must possess knowledge and skills in window based computer systems.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Must possess flexibility and the capacity to handle wide range of situations and personalities.

  • Must be organized and have the ability to adhere to priorities and deadlines.

  • Must be able to travel as needed.

  • Must have personal tools to perform the job duties.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent. Trade school electrician’s course work preferred.

  • 3years electrical experience including experience with 110, 220, and 440 volts and control circuits. Oil field equipment maintenance and repair experience preferred.

  • Previous experience with PLC systems is desirable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is required frequently to use hands and digits to handle or feel work material. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Lifting/carry up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20lbs frequently, and 5 to 10 lbs daily. Must be able to use/wear applicable personal protective equipment which may include but is not limited to safety-toed foot wear (with ankle height support), back support belt, hearing protection, safety eye-wear with side shields, gloves and hard hat. May occasionally be required to wear approved/applicable respiratory protection equipment (respiratory protection guidelines would apply with regard to medical evaluation and fit testing of equipment). Frequent assent/decent of stairs/steps, especially at field locations. Must be able to respond quickly to an emergency situation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, field locations may be at a high level where by appropriate hearing protection may be required.

  • Building AC/Heating systems is a typical “closed loop” system.

  • Field locations may range in temperature from -50ºF to above 80ºF, depending upon time of year, with varying levels of humidity.

  • Field locations may be dusty, wet, or muddy depending upon weather conditions.
