The Electrical Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs industrial electrical equipment and performs a wide variety of other general maintenance duties. All assignments will be performed in accordance with NMS’ mission, vision, and values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect on a routine basis electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures, and other components to ensure they remain functional and are up to code, as well as to identify any hazards or issues
Troubleshoots such electrical equipment as used in air handling systems, interior and exterior lighting, fire detection, and power distribution systems.
Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
Determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components and create a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem.
Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
Perform a wide variety of routine building trades repairs and preventative maintenance tasks on commercial property.
Works daily with a computerized maintenance management system to enter, close and record work orders.
Works with a variety of skilled trades and/or skill sets in all aspects of Facilities Maintenance to include but not limited to electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs.
Monitors and escorts as necessary specialty subcontractor personnel.
Performs routine troubleshooting such as repairing and replacing pumps, motors, valves etc.
Repairs overhead doors, personnel doors, and hardware.
Regular day shift, M-F but position will involve rotating night weekend emergency call out as needed basis.
Assist other Maintenance Technicians, regardless of skill set/trade.
This position may require approximately 75% travel out of Anchorage area to multiple Alaskan cities. Overnight stays may be required.
Notify supervisor is safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Other related duties may also be assigned or required
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Must have at least 4 years’ experience as an Electrical Technician or Journeyman Electrician in the commercial and residential maintenance field.
Experience with the troubleshooting and repair of electronic control systems related to HVAC systems and boiler room equipment.
Evidenced a knowledge of the National Electrical code as it pertains to electrical equipment in hazardous and classified areas.
A valid Alaskan Journeyman Electrician certificate of fitness is highly desired.
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: Background check, SIDA security clearance, drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment.
Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
This contract requires all employees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals that are offered positions and are prevented from being vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons will work closely with Human Resources to evaluate their specific situations.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and vibration.
Noise level: Moderate to Loud
Description of environment: This is a remote camp setting.Employees must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch. Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Travel: Must be able to travel by commercial aircraft.
Physical requirements: Must frequently life and/or move up to 50 lbs.
