Job Summary (Purpose)

The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations for a line of business of Key, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), corporate accounting policies, and internal/external audits. The Accounting Manager must be able to thrive under deadlines, be an effective collaborator and communicator. The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior leaders in the line of business, Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Tax and Risk. The Accounting Manager will have strong leadership skills, technical accounting expertise and experience in managing complex financial processes and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will report to the Line of Business Controller.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage and oversee daily general ledger accounting operations for a line business including revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities.

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and reporting.

  • Oversee reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure accuracy in financial data.

  • Prepare and analyze internal financial reports, including footnotes and financial tables, in compliance with US GAAP for various stakeholders within Key.

  • Partner with line of business executives and finance to provide accounting advice on strategy initiatives

  • Be able to perform technical accounting research and interpret accounting guidance pertaining to Key and corporate accounting policies

  • Monitor and assess the impact of business process changes on the control environment and implement appropriate changes to ensure SOX compliance.

  • Develop accounting staff, manage their workloads, and provide training and development opportunities.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

  • Collaborate with various departments to drive growth and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Work closely with IT and Finance teams to optimize systems and data accuracy

Required Qualifications/Competencies :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills :

  • CPA or MBA

  • Experience in the banking industry or financial services; Preferably with a Category 1 – 3 bank.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements specific to regional banks.

  • Ability to adapt to changing regulations and implement necessary changes.

Key has implemented a role-based Mobile by Design approach to our employee workspaces, dedicating space to those whose roles require specific workspaces, while providing flexible options for roles which are less dependent on assigned workspaces and can be performed effectively in a mobile environment. As a result, this role may be mobile or home based, which means you may work either at a home office or in a Key facility to perform your job duties. If located near a KeyBank location, the position in the future may work partially from a Key facility. If not located near a Key facility, team will consider remote workers.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $103,000 to $113,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
