The Iowa DOT is seeking an Employee Relations Partner to join our dynamic Human Resources team!

This position will work fulltime at our Ames, IA location.

As an Employee Relations Partner, you will coach leaders as they deal with both small and large employee issues. You will get to provide support, consultation, and resolution guidance for employees and leaders in the department. You will have the opportunity to analyze workplace environment complaints, recommend appropriate resolutions, and conduct investigations.

In this role, you will interpret policies, code, and laws and advise others on how to apply them. You will also support the development of policies for employees as well as prepare presentations to provide training on the policies. You will have the opportunity to teach leaders both in a one-on-one setting and classroom setting about a variety of topics related to employee relations.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

  • A combination of a total of four years of education and full-time experience in technical or professional human resources work, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work equals one year of full-time experience.

  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes three years of full-time work performing technical human resources work.
