Job Description
Primary Purpose: Oversees repair and overhaul of all types of locomotive components including traction motors, maingenerators/alternators, engines, and any insourcing work requiring traction motor, maingenerator/alternator, or related component work.
Principal Duties: * Manages the repair and overhaul of locomotive components. * Directs the removal, repair, and replacement of all types of wheelsets for all Norfolk Southernowned traction motor wheel assemblies and all insourcing work requiring traction motor wheelassembly or component work. * Schedules, coordinates, and controls the flow of material, manpower, and shop equipmentresources in order to assure maximum quality, productivity, and safety. * Recommends the purchase of equipment and the modification of existing facilities for attainingquality, efficiency, and production goals. * Resolves grievances, time claims, discipline problems, differences in interpretation of agreements,and conflicts between crafts regarding jurisdiction of work.
