Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Oversees repair and overhaul of all types of locomotive components including traction motors, main generators/alternators, engines, and any insourcing work requiring traction motor, main generator/alternator, or related component work.

Principal Duties:

• Manages the repair and overhaul of locomotive components.

• Directs the removal, repair, and replacement of all types of wheelsets for all Norfolk Southern owned traction motor wheel assemblies and all insourcing work requiring traction motor wheel assembly or component work.

• Schedules, coordinates, and controls the flow of material, manpower, and shop equipment resources in order to assure maximum quality, productivity, and safety.

• Recommends the purchase of equipment and the modification of existing facilities for attaining quality, efficiency, and production goals.

• Resolves grievances, time claims, discipline problems, differences in interpretation of agreements, and conflicts between crafts regarding jurisdiction of work.

Job Related Experience:

Minimum Level: 11-15 years

Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BA)
