Your role at Clorox:

The Senior Manager, Transportation Operations is responsible for leading a team that handles the Inbound transportation operations for the US across all modes, load level planning and forecasting generation, and oversite over all carrier payments. Critical responsibilities include daily operations oversight, metric management and improvement, cost optimization, management of 3PL service provider, carrier accountability, freight forecasting programs, timely and accurate carrier payments and financial accruals, as well as the development and execution of short-term and long-term transportation strategies that will deliver the optimal service and cost balance to support the Business directives at a network level.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead all aspects of development and management of carrier operational strategies. Develop, handle, and leverage critical transportation carrier relationships to deliver short and long-term business objectives.

  • Develop, guide and mentor direct reports to aid in maintaining high morale, drive process efficiencies, build capabilities, and support/drive ownership of regional transportation responsibilities.

  • Ensuring all expected freight accruals and carrier invoice payments are generated accurately and timely. Drive automation across reconciliation processes for accurate financial reporting. Timely maintenance of audit schedules ensuring compliance with the ability to identify, and course correct any root cause drivers that could lead to future deficiencies.

  • Lead efforts for continuous portfolio service level improvements and transportation network optimization initiatives engaging all involved parties (internal and external).

  • Fully own costs across the portfolio for all modes handled. Proactively address cost drivers and passionately eliminate variances and drive out waste to deliver value-creation. Partner with Procurement to secure and implement efficient freight cost, push back on network service gaps, and hold carriers accountable to meeting their commitments.

  • Ownership of operational oversight and performance of 3PL partners’ handling daily freight execution and freight invoice auditing. Data is a critical part of this, and will require a strong depth of knowledge, ability to pull insights and actioning to hold partners and team accountable to business objectives.

  • Partner with other groups on critical initiatives, providing transportation insights, subject matter expertise, and transportation solutions.

  • Work cross-functionally to minimize service disruptions, understand both current and future demand at a network to generate monthly forecasts used for financial and operational planning ensuring hard-working supply chains are established and maintained.

  • Keep abreast of industry/market conditions and trends and leverage industry resources and knowledge to provide insight, identify standard processes and new technology to get results.

What we look for:

  • Transportation, Logistics, and Operational Experience with the ability to work and adapt in fast-paced operations environment. Ability to successfully multi-task.

  • Shown leadership with the ability to strategize, influence, be conclusive, and turn ideas into actions.

  • Strong carrier, customer or supplier management experience (including negotiation tactics and performance management)

  • Experience with the development of forecasts/budgets and handling operations against a forecast/budget.

  • Must be self-motivated, and possess strong abilities to work seamlessly across functional boundaries

  • Ability to monitor and report on performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

  • Ability to network and work effectively with external Clorox partners to build new capabilities.

  • Functional experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong Analytical and Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Team leadership, personal development, and career development, motivational skills.

  • Experience: 5-10 years of Operations experience required, Transportation or Logistics experience preferred.

  • Education: BS/BA degree required, preferred: degree in business, engineering, supply chain or logistics management

Workplace type:

This is a hybrid role - 3 days a week in the Alpharetta, GA or Durham, NC offices and 2 days a week at home. Alpharetta preferred location.

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $121,900 - $240,100

–Zone B: $111,700 - $220,100

–Zone C: $101,600 - $200,100

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
