Actalent Principal Scientist in Allendale, New Jersey

Job Overview:

The Principal Scientist position is a critical role within the Nice Pak R&D organization, leading product development efforts and providing technical oversight for the entire portfolio of our Branded and Private Label businesses. In this role, the Principal Scientist will serve as the lead formulator and project owner for product development and innovation initiatives covering both personal care and surface care categories. This role will work cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Regulatory and Legal to move projects from concept to launch to achieve desired milestones and objectives. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead all technical and formula development aspects for key projects and advance them through the product development process, working cross-functionally with Engineers, Marketing, Consumer Insights, Procurement, Regulatory, Legal and Operations

  • Utilize technical expertise and formulation skills to identify new ingredients, technologies and benefits, and develop new products that address consumer needs

  • Coordinate all technical testing and claims support needs for products including performance testing, stability testing, safety tests and consumer in-home use studies

  • Conduct ongoing competitor product and technology assessments to ensure understanding of the latest developments in relevant wet wipe product categories

  • Work with internal and external partners to identify new technologies and innovation opportunities that can be applied to Nice Pak’s wet wipes portfolio for potential innovation and business growth opportunities

  • Develop technical product strategies and plans for innovation projects and execute with excellence

  • Develop, write and validate new test methods to support new technology/benefit claims validation

  • Partner with Operations/Manufacturing personnel to validate and scale-up new product developments and innovations; issue justification proposals for any new equipment/process required to support innovation development and currently marked products

  • Build detailed technical knowledge of respective wet wipe product portfolio and leverage within daily activities and long-term product strategies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Chemistry or related, relevant scientific discipline; Master’s degree is a plus

  • 10+ year’s prior work experience in the development of new products for personal care and or surface cleaning applications; previous experience working with nonwovens/wipes is an advantage

  • Proven track record of developing and launching new products in the personal care or surface cleaning markets as part of a cross functional team

  • Prior experience working on either OTC or EPA products is a plus

  • Understanding of the Product Development Process from concept ideation through launch

  • Computer proficiency (Outlook / Word / Excel / Project)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $52.00/hr.
