In this position...

Ford Performance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Powertrain Engineer with a strong background in component, design & systems engineering, from concept to launch. This pivotal role within our organization requires an individual with a proven track record of solving tough system level problems & implementing innovative component and systems level solutions. This individual should have a strong knowledge of our research process, understand how technology can be fast tracked into production, and understand the fundamentals to deliver a high-quality design that will deliver a high-quality product in production. We want someone with a passion for high-performance vehicles, and a strong network of industry connections.

We are pushing boundaries of a new powertrain power transfer solution and need someone that understands both the technical aspects of delivering a high-performance PT and the systems and team aspect of delivering a high-performance PT into a low volume production environment.

An ideal candidate is a team player that can pull the team together to solve tough issues, leverage core resources, and make things happen quickly to resolve issues. In addition, the Powertrain Engineer needs to be positioned with significant knowledge, and the ability to immediately pull in significant network technical expertise to solve issues and keep the program on track. She/he will also need to provide technical oversight of this program including a strong understanding of program management and project deliverables that align with Ford GPDS deliverables.

What you'll do...

  • Lead the delivery of a new powertrain power transfer solution for a new Ford Performance program

  • includes complete powertrain system integration and program delivery of quality, cost, weight, function and timing through to production

  • Primary technical interface with technical specialists to insure delivery of a quality system design

  • Primary technical interface with external sub-assembly manufacturing site and vehicle assembly plant to insure a design that fits with the process and a process that meets commercial needs

  • Technical support for vehicle program/platform and the functional teams

  • Technical management of all powertain elements and complexities of this innovative new powertrain supply solution

  • Technical leadership for prototype builds

  • Technical leadership for PT problem resolution

  • Technical lead for PT team during launch

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience

  • 10 + years of hands-on experience in the development of powertrains, with a strong emphasis on high performance powertrains.

  • 3 + years of automotive expertise with In-depth knowledge of automotive powertrain systems, current & future.

  • 3 + years of plant manufacturing interface experience. Ideally, this person has worked closely with supplier plants, sub-assembly (engine, transmission, etc) plants, and vehicle assembly plants through multiple launches.

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills leading complex projects from conception to completion, meeting tight deadlines and budgetary constraints. We are looking for someone that has taken multiple high-performance programs from launch to production.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey tough technical issue to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
