NetCentrics has an exciting opportunity to migrate theU.S. Veteran Administration (VA)hardware, operating systems, applications, and other elements of its IT infrastructure from IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) to IPv6. To accomplish this task, NetCentrics is looking for experienced IT professionals to provide technical, engineering and guidance to support the critical transition from IPv4 to IPv6.

To ensure the success of our mission, we are seeking technical experts to support all phases from documentation, configuration, inventory management, remediations, security, network monitoring, desk support, testing, training, migration, and strategic planning in both test and real-world environments.

The migration will ensure the design and integration of IPv6 technology across VA on-premises core infrastructure, network operations, support desks, and security systems, as well as VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) where applicable.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain IPv6 network architectures to meet the specific requirements of the customer.
  • Experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices for IPv6 compatibility.
  • Develop and manage IPv6 address plan to efficiently allocate and manage IPv6 address space.
  • Configure and troubleshoot IPv6 routing protocols, including OSPFv3, MP-BGP, EIGRP Name Mode, and DMVPN for seamless network connectivity.
  • Utilize network IPAM tools for IPv6 addressing management.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex IPv6 network problems, collaborating with other team members and vendors as needed.
  • Understanding and familiarity of AWS and/or Azure.
  • Maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration of IPv6 networking solutions.
  • Abilityto display extensive configuration knowledge and expertise regarding major networking (LAN/WAN) protocols such as OSPFv3, MP-BGP and EIGRP.
  • Understanding of Cyber security aspects related to network engineering and be able to explain changes required to further protect an IPV6 network.
  • Ability toimplement advanced security measures especially for IPV6 networks including firewall policies, intrusion detection systems and DDOS mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a network engineer, with a focus on IPv6 networking
  • Strong knowledge of IPv6 addressing, routing, and subnetting
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, Palo Alto or similar networking equipment
  • Experience with network security protocols and practices
  • Familiarity with NAT64 and DNS64 translationmechanism
  • Familiarity with network IPAM tools
  • Familiarity with Protocol Analyzer Tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
