Office of Inspector General Human Resources Assistant in Alexandria, Virginia

Summary The position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), Mission Support Team (MST), Human Capital Management (HCM), within the Classification and Staffing Division. In this position you will be responsible to perform technical work supporting transactions, recruitment and placement, and onboarding operations. Responsibilities Conducts pre-employment processing to include tentative and final job offers. Utilizes various human resources information systems to process actions, maintain employee records and files; enters and retrieves data, searches systems, and produces reports. Works with a shared service provider to process recruitment and placement actions. Utilizes USA Staffing to review and adjudicate supporting documentation from applicants. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-8 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-7 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-7) or equivalent within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Human Resources technical function experience which includes processing personnel actions, using automated systems, establishing and maintaining electronic files; scheduling in-processing, various meetings and conferences. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
