Robert Half Controller in Alexandria, Louisiana

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in Alexandria, Louisiana. This role is primarily focused on the management of day-to-day accounting functions related to manufacturing operations. The Controller will be an integral part of the team, working closely with the Director of Finance and the Controller-Manufacturing Business Unit to ensure all plant accounting functions are handled in a timely, accurate manner.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

• Maintain the general ledger and oversee monthly financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Oversee day-to-day functions like accounts payable, general accounting, and inventory accounting

• Manage a team of accountants to ensure processes are carried out in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner

• Provide necessary support to the team and ensure accurate results from inventory spreadsheets

• Analyze materials consumed and other variances and supervise physical inventories

• Maintain property ledger and fixed asset inventories

• Maintain a direct cost accounting environment at the manufacturing facility

• Assist with preparing the annual budget for the plant

• Participate in and actively support Quality projects and activities to ensure that the company achieves its goals

Requirements

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, a minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience with cost accounting, in a manufacturing environment.

· Advanced degree and CPA are beneficial.

· Ability to effectively supervise both staff and clerical employees with a minimum of 2 years of management experience.

· Ability to analyze financial and other information into the operations of the company.

· Ability to integrate non-financial and other information into the operations of the company.

· Highly motivated, creative, innovative, self-starter, and makes decisions.

· Direct and lead subordinates to improve and simplify processes.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.

· Advanced Excel skills.

· Experience with ERP systems.
