Job Description

Community Maternity Services (CMS), is an agency of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany. CMS is a non-profit agency that has been serving the Capital Region for 50 years. CMS provides family-oriented and community-based programs through individualized social services and community education programs. We offer a continuum of care for adolescents, young parents and their children. The youth we serve are placed in either of our residential programs due to the youth being placed in foster care and requiring a congregate care facility.

CMS is currently hiring a Youth Specialist to work in our Farano Center for Children. The Farano Center is a residential program of Community Maternity Services. Our residential programs run 24 hours a day/7 days per week.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Direct-care working with children with mental health and/or behavioral concerns in a residential setting

  • Possess the ability to recognize the effects of trauma on children/adolescents and respond as a member of the Therapeutic Team

  • Advocate for youth in a variety of settings and systems

  • Follow routine while at the same time maintaining flexibility and be sincere, caring and nurturing

  • Transporting clients and household duties such as laundry, cleaning and cooking

Youth Specialist - Farano Center: Minimum Salary: $17.00/hour

Youth Specialist - Farano Center: Maximum Salary: $19.00/hour

Youth Specialist - Farano Center: Full-time Evenings 2:00pm - 10:00pm Sunday through Thursday

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or HSE is required; an Associates Degree in a Human Service or related field is preferred

  • Valid NYS driver’s license

  • Completing TCI and once trained, executing all aspects of TCI including physical interventions

  • Available to attend all required trainings, in-services, staff meetings and weekly supervisions, many of which may take place outside of your scheduled shift

  • Minimum of 1 year working with children & adolescents with mental health needs in a residential setting

  • Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to (1) lift up to 40 lbs.; (2) demonstrate a full range of motion; (3) be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and (4) be able to walk up and down stairs as necessary.
