Smurfit Westrock is seeking a progressive, creative, high-energy Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to support high-volume hourly, skilled trades, and salaried non-exempt recruiting for our production and manufacturing facilities in Consumer Packaging, Container Packaging, and Mill Operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on challenges and is eager to define, develop, and foster robust talent pipelines that will drive Smurfit Westrock\u2019s growth. As a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will be a Strategic Business Partner, Brand Ambassador, and Recruiting Leader all rolled into one!

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:

  • Proactive Sourcing & Solutions: Provide solutions on how to identify candidates, leveraging innovative sourcing techniques and creative strategies to attract top talent through various channels to build a strong talent pipeline for high-volume hourly, skilled trades, and salaried non-exempt roles.

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners: Provide strategic support for business growth through workforce planning, position profiling, sourcing strategies, and consulting on selection and suitability.

  • Market Expertise: Advise on trends and availability of talent in identified markets, as well as hiring needs and recruiting practices of talent competitors.

  • Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure presentation of diverse candidate slates and encourage strategic approaches for incorporating diversity in the search process.

  • Talent Attraction: Actively engage on Talent Acquisition platforms and industry-specific forums to showcase the company culture, share job openings, and connect with potential candidates. Use targeted ads and posts to reach a broader audience and highlight the unique benefits of working with your organization. Facilitate participation and partnership in local job fairs, community events, and collaborations with educational institutions to build a strong grassroots presence and attract talent from diverse sources.

  • Client Experience: Create positive client experience through successful management of the interview and selection process, including facilitation of intake sessions, pre-interview calibrations, post-interview debriefs and biweekly calls & recaps.

  • Influence and Consultation: Leverage data-driven insights and strategic consultation to influence business partners on talent acquisition best practices, compliance, and strategies. Build strong relationships through regular communication, education, and training, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering a collaborative environment. Effectively implement new processes and workflows, ensuring smooth adoption and adherence to best practices.

  • Leadership and Autonomy: Lead recruitment initiatives with autonomy, working with limited supervision while influencing business partners with data-driven insights and strong consultation on best practices and trends.

  • Peer Leadership: Offer mentorship and guidance to less experienced colleagues, helping them navigate challenges and develop their skills by regularly sharing insights, best practices, and industry trends with peers to foster a collaborative learning environment.

  • Candidate Experience: Ensure a positive and engaging candidate experience by maintaining clear communication, providing timely feedback, and offering support throughout the recruitment process.

  • Effective Communication: Utilize multiple communication channels such as email, meetings, and reports to provide clear, consistent, and timely updates to candidates, hiring managers, and other stakeholders.

  • Implement Data-Driven Recruitment Strategies: Review and analyze data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Adjust sourcing strategies, streamline the interview process, and enhance candidate experience based on insights to consistently meet and exceed recruitment goals.

  • Data Integrity: Follow SOPs and guidelines to maintain data integrity within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and trackers, ensuring accurate and compliant record-keeping.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • BA or BS degree in business, HR, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of talent acquisition experience in a corporate setting. Agency experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience managing recruitment for hourly, skilled trades, and salaried non-exempt roles.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing diversity recruiting strategies that go beyond typical job boards, including grassroots efforts and identifying schools and organizations that align with the company\u2019s needs.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to develop a deep understanding of strategic business priorities, success drivers, and the business model and functional operations.

  • Broad understanding of various HR delivery models and ability to support processes critical to the Smurfit Westrock model.

  • Ability to analyze data and synthesize research to make strategic recommendations, balanced with sound judgment and tailored solutions.

  • Demonstrated facilitation skills.

  • Proven client-orientation and strong client management skills.

  • Strong process orientation and attention to detail.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, clients, and candidates.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience with proactive sourcing strategies to build a strong talent pipeline.

  • Travel required for site visits and training, as needed.

  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint):

  • Excel: Capable of creating, formatting, and managing spreadsheets, including basic formulas, functions, and data visualization tools.

  • Word: Proficient in document creation and editing, with a strong understanding of formatting, templates, and collaborative features like track changes.

  • PowerPoint: Skilled in developing and delivering presentations, utilizing animations, transitions, and multimedia elements to enhance communication.
