Job Overview

The Director, Corporate Marketing leads a Marketing team focused on growing participation in New York’s clean energy economy across a variety of audiences. Focus areas include educating and increasing awareness, encouraging participation in programs, adoption of technologies, and support of New York’s energy agenda.

The Director, Corporate Marketing develops marketing strategies and oversees implementation through the Corporate Marketing team and key marketing contractors. Corporate Marketing works closely with NYSERDA’s program and leadership teams to develop marketing strategies and plans to meet business and State goals. Corporate Marketing supports NYSERDA teams with messaging, materials, and resources to support their work.

The Director, Corporate Marketing facilitates the overall NYSERDA brand positioning and communications as well as the delivery of information across multiple channels including management of content from key web-based corporate and campaign platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop NYSERDA positioning and ensure consistent branding in the market to build credibility with New Yorkers and key audiences.

  • Manage the multifaceted Marketing team to ensure effective delivery of all marketing work products while fostering a positive and rewarding work environment.

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and measurement of marketing strategies and campaigns to support the attainment of program and business goals. Present recommendations to key decision makers.

  • Manage the competitive selection and direct the work of contracted marketing firms including the oversight of timelines, budgets and schedule of deliverables.

  • Manage the customer experience and content on NYSERDA's websites including NYSERDA.ny.gov and multiple campaign websites.

  • Conduct market research and identify and tap into existing research to identify opportunities and inform and support marketing recommendations.

  • Oversee the development of in-house creative solutions to meet marketing plan goals and internal needs, including design and layout, writing, and editing, visual guidelines, report publishing and printing services.

  • Develop audience and initiative specific messaging to be delivered consistently across all channels including through partners. Support partner organizations with toolkits and other resources.

  • Collaborate closely with contractors and utility teams to ensure a seamless and clear path to accessing all clean energy opportunities.

  • Work closely with Corporate Communications, Events Management and Social Media teams to implement integrated solutions.

  • Understanding of new and emerging marketing technologies and their impact; in-depth understanding of media channels and ability to develop and assess strategic marketing plans.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information.

  • Perform all managerial and supervisory responsibilities with respect, fairness, consistency, and inclusion across the workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Advertising and 10 years relevant experience, with at least 7 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving ability, an action bias, and experience leading direct reports and colleagues toward measurable outcomes.

  • Self-starter who can act independently and can handle diverse tasks quickly and accurately within a high-performance environment.

  • Occasional travel to NYSERDA offices, to events, to meet with key partners and/or agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Marketing or Advertising and 8 years’ experience preferred including 7 years in a supervisory role.

  • Additional duties as needed.
