JMT's Albany, NY Team is seeking a Section Head to be responsible for managing Construction Inspection business throughout Upstate New York State.
Position summary: Responsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the Construction Management department throughout Upstate NY.
Compensation is $125,000.00 – $165,000.00, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders
Establish and grow market presence in Upstate NY through marketing and business development focused on transportation construction projects
Maintains/builds client relationships
Manage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordingly
Lead and contribute to the production of proposals
Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff
Establish resources staffing needs for the section
Interview and hire staff for the section
Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams
Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
Assists design disciplines with constructability questions/issues
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required SkillsRequired Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
Professional Engineer License or equivalent
10+ years’ experience in transportation construction management and inspection field
Project management and business development experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Active driver’s license
Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Qualifications Preferred
Experience working with local clients at the local municipal, county and state level
Client requested certifications
Supervisory experience
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed within a general office environment but may require visits to projects to support field staff. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Personal projective equipment is required when on a project site.
Travel within New York is required.
