AKRON METROPOLITAN HOUSING AUTHORITY Job Title: Senior Recertification Specialist I FLSA Status: Non-exempt - Clerical Bargaining Unit New Hire Base Rate 10 Years 20 Years $21.60 $22.54 $23.11 $23.71 General Purpose: Conduct annual and interim re-examinations, ensuring that tenants receive applicable income exclusions and deductions in a timely manner, and in accordance with AMHA/HUD guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned. * Calculates retroactive rent payments. * Assists in staff transitions including training, auditing calculations and assumes the majority of the temporary caseload coverage for new Recertification Specialists during the new employees' probationary period. * Complete move in audits for public housing developments' senior sites buildings. * Conducts annual and interim re-examinations for an increased workload consisting of public housing residents facing negative action, focusing on accuracy and deadlines, while maintaining an 80% pass rate on all audited files. * Schedule appointments with residents, verify income and assets, complete appropriate verifications, and calculate new rent amounts within established time frames. Accurately enter all data into computer, applicable logs and prepare appropriate lease documentation. * Provide accurate and timely information to residents regarding reporting requirements, HUD policies and agency procedures. Respond in a timely manner to resident inquiries and follows-up to ensure resident problems are resolved. Maintains positive working relationships with service providers and other social service agencies. Represent AMHA in a professional and courteous manner at all times. . * Maintain expert knowledge of AMHA/HUD guidelines. * Maintain participant files, including filing all paperwork and preparing applicable logs. Miscellaneous: Testifies at hearings. Completes reassigned work. Conduct home/site visits as required Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications: Minimum of 2 years of Public Housing Recertification experience preferred and an average of 80% pass rate on all audited files. Must have Rent Calculation Certification or complete the Certification within 1 year. High school diploma or equivalent plus one year clerical and/or bookkeeping experience. Must be proficient with computers. Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License and be insurable under AMHA. Physical Requirements.
