QUALIFICATIONS - Required: Valid Ohio K-12 Music Licensure * *Desired: Experience in and commitment to working with urban high school and middle school students, and regional professionals in a multicultural setting to produce high-quality artistic experiences Effective choral music program development and ensemble conducting as evidenced by Principal/Supervisor Demonstrates performance competence in voice and piano Demonstrates evidence of advanced knowledge in music theory and choral music for grades 6-12 (including OMEA solo/ensemble, vocal jazz, gospel, and choral repertoire spanning the renaissance to the contemporary era) Strong belief in arts integration Three or more years of successful teaching experience as a full-time choral director as evidenced in evaluations by principal, supervisor, or OMEA adjudication assessments Demonstrates organizational skills Willingness to attend summer in-service program prior to opening of school

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Assumes responsibility for music instruction in an individual, small group and classroom situation

Creates an environment that is conducive to learning

Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives

Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required

Develops reasonable rules of classroom behaviors and procedures

Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner

Collaborates with the other music specialists and classroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary units
