About the Opportunity
This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
The Compensation Representative performs various business-related activities to support the Compensation
section of Corporate Human Resources. The Compensation team is responsible for designing and providing
competitive base pay and incentives to all levels of employees aligned with the Company’s pay-for-performance
philosophy. This position partners with the business units to ensure that programs support their objectives by
helping to attract and retain key and critical talent. In addition, this position designs and provides market
competitive total rewards to attract, motivate, retain, and reward employees whose performance contributions and
behaviors help drive the Company's success.
This position reports to the Manager, Employee Compensation.
Responsibilities include :
• Leading the design, implementation and administration of non-bargaining compensation programs, policies,
and guidelines, including but not limited to the annual base pay review and short-term incentive program
• Analyzing compensation surveys to determine compensation trends and to ensure competitive positions in
the external market and internal equity across the organization
• Consulting with business unit leaders on compensation practices and processes
• Providing project management and analytical support in key compensation special projects
• Driving educational and communication efforts throughout the organization related to compensation
programs and practices
• Compiling reports and statistics for FirstEnergy's various compensation programs and initiatives
• Understanding and applying regulatory requirements related to compensation such as the Fair Labor
Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Pay Act (EPA), etc.
• Remaining knowledgeable of compensation trends and recommending process improvements
• Performing moderately complex reporting with the ability to conduct in depth analyses to
provide data driven recommendations.
• Serving as a thought leader in the group as well as a mentor and coach to less tenured employees
• Recommending and implementing solutions to more complex compensation issues to drive positive change
across the organization.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline preferred with minimum 4 years relevant work
experience is required. Relevant work experience includes experience with the following: Employee
Compensation, Finance, Auditing, and analytical experience.
• In lieu of a bachelor’s degree (preferred), minimum 7 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant
work experience includes experience with the following: Employee Compensation, Finance, Auditing, and
analytical experience.
• Advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
• Oracle experience preferred
• Ability to analyze large quantities of data
• Able to manage and prioritize multiple work assignments while maintaining a strong attention to detail
• Able to develop creative solutions to solve problems
• Strong communication skills
• Able to provide guidance to leadership in nonstandard situations
