JOB duties: Development & Research Engineering Specialist

The primary role of this position is to lead hydraulic related components and system design, development, and research, focusing on developing products and processes. This includes solving complex technical engineering issues on products. The role may also require acting as a team or project leader, but the main focus is on technical achievements. Key skills include negotiation, consensus-building, and collaboration with various departments and suppliers. Decisions made in this role can significantly impact project teams, departments, and the Caterpillar market, affecting warranties, patents, products, technology, costs, sales, and customer perception. Success factors include strong communication, conceptual design skills, and understanding customer needs and product applications. The main challenges are maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge and increasing technical breadth and depth. Technical leadership and project management skills are essential.

Job Description:

  • Design, development, maintenance, and project lead of hydraulic systems and hydraulic components for hydraulic excavators (Small/Medium/Large/Super Large).

  • Enhance vehicle performance such as operability, fuel efficiency, productivity, and cooling from a hydraulic system perspective.

  • Collaborate with the electric system and software team for the development of electro-hydraulic systems.

  • Collaborate with related departments and suppliers to carry out development work and lead the projects from the concept phase to the mass production phase. CPPD, aftermarket and maintenance are also included.

  • Engage in cost optimization activities for products.

Basic Qualifications:·

  • Must have excellent analytical skills and a broad understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications.

  • A self-motivated individual with strong technical leadership skills is required.

  • The ability to effectively communicate technical information to team members, other members of workgroups, employees from other departments, customers, and suppliers is necessary.

  • Experience in mechanical product design and development work.

  • Capability to plan necessary tasks for development, maintain schedules, and advance mass production.

  • Competence in design and development work within a global team in English.

  • Ability to accurately analyze situations and make productive/effective decisions based on information and data.

  • Capability to efficiently utilize technical and management resources to achieve project goals.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of hydraulic technology and experience in developing hydraulic systems and hydraulic components.

  • Experience in developing electric-hydraulic systems.

  • Ability to use data analysis tools.

  • Capability to understand hydraulic circuit diagrams and apply this knowledge in design, development, and troubleshooting.
