POSITION DESCRIPTION DUTIES (GENERAL) Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-effective results . Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks. Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, to resolve complex problems . Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning. Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s} of technical expertise Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles. Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations. Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution. Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of technology. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identified by management. Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and management. Occasionally prepare reports for external publication. Enhance expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies. Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles. DUTIES (SPECIFIC FOR THE POSTING) Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with national consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions. Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience. OR A MS with 8+ years' experience. OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more. Education (Specific for the Posting): Graduate of an ABET accredited Fire Protection Engineering program. OR BS degree in an engineering discipline and at least one of the following: Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection. Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) NICET Level III/IV certification in the Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling area of expertise Professional or Fellow Member in the SFPE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work in a diverse work environment, Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening. Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values. Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years recent design experience, four (4) of which shall be in the following area of expertise: Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling Design - General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID s, and battery loading calculations. Working knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards, and National Consensus Codes and Standards such as NFPA 13, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards. Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Ability to operate Windows Microsoft Office Applications. Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. Desired Qualifications Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years. Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience. Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software. Previous SRS design experience and familiarity with the processes and procedures for providing engineering support to SRS facilities. PF-81 Evaluation Criteria: Price and Cost to Company: 20% Technical Acceptability: 70% Availability and Qualifications: 10%-Preferred Experience/Skills as identified in the Position Description. Duration of the Contract: 1 year, 2 option periods. Estimated Hours Per Year: 2080 ST 800 OT Anticipated Work Schedule: 6:45am to 5:15pm, Monday through Thursday. Onsite or Remote? 100% Onsite.
