Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a motivated Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) E.I.T. to join our team in Dallas, TX! This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers eager to develop essential experience and engineering skills in Subsurface Utility Engineering standard of care and delivery of subsurface utility investigations for transportation and infrastructure projects, and the various project delivery methods. Join our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team, a branch of engineering that deals with mitigating risks associated with new infrastructure design and construction. We work closely with engineers and utility owners to help identify utility conflicts using an array of technologies, including electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey and vacuum excavation. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and analysis of subsurface utility investigations.

  • Work with SUE professional engineers, SUE project managers, utility coordinators, utility engineers and SUE field investigator teams to interpret utility data and prepare technical reports.

  • Basic understanding of the geophysical technologies such as Electromagnetic Methods, Magnetic methods, and Elastic Wave Methods .

  • Support CAD and GIS teams in developing utility maps and deliverables.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASCE 38-22 and ASCE 75-22), client requirements, and safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on various infrastructure projects.

Career Development:

  • Gain hands-on experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) overall project delivery process.

  • Work toward obtaining a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with mentorship from senior engineers and technically experienced project managers and SUE filed investigators.

  • Exposure to cutting-edge technology and industry best practices in subsurface utility engineering, utility coordination, and utility conflict analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and/or geology(geoscience).

  • Develop a technical, theoretical, and practical understanding of ASCE 38-22 and ASCE 75-22• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification or ability to obtain within six to twelve months.

  • 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience (internships or co-op experience in SUE, utility coordination, utility engineering, and transportation design is a plus).

  • Basic knowledge of utility infrastructure, geophysical methods, and surveying.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or GIS is an advantage.

  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
