Director, Supplier Diversity and Economic Inclusion

Responsible for developing and executing supplier diversity strategies in alignment with our global goals. This role will work closely with internal customers, divisions, and category managers, driving our unified procurement model. The Director will provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. This position is responsible for promoting diverse suppliers and monitoring their usage across our divisions. The Director will also represent our organization strategically in the industry and community and is recognized as a thought leader within these disciplines.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

  • Serve as the Global Procurement Diversity champion. Liaise with corporate functions to implement strategies and drive change.

  • Measure and report metrics and assess process effectiveness. Track tier 1 and tier 2 spend targets to meet government and commercial requirements.

  • Seek, develop, and establish business relationships with diverse suppliers. Meet regularly with divisional customers and lead functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for efficiencies.

  • Develop and implement diverse procurement plans and strategies to support business needs.

  • Anticipate internal/external business challenges and drive change.

  • Lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.

  • Solve complex problems, take a broad perspective to identify solutions.

  • Educate on existing solutions and enable performance and tech tools development.

STRATEGIC THINKING:

  • Communicate and design messages to increase awareness and engagement, convey policies and best practices related to supplier diversity.

  • Champion change and innovation. Stimulate creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas. Supports those who initiate change and take risks.

  • Leverage professional expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results. Lead the development of functional strategy.

  • Coordinate across corporate, functions, divisions to share best practices and adherence to our Supplier Diversity guidelines.

  • Understand the overall needs of multiple business units and negotiate an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category.

  • Manage initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

  • Partner with business leaders (Manager, Director, SVP) to manage and align the supplier diversity program. Closely collaborate with adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key diverse vendors as well as counterparts at other companies.

  • Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and good customer service.

  • Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance and to provide overall value.

  • Support category projects across business unit and divisions when and where applicable.

LEADING PEOPLE:

  • Responsible for all aspects of people and team leadership; setting expectations, coaching, counseling, developing, evaluating, feedback, hiring, discipline, and separation. Superior influencing skills both internally and externally. Responsible for overall morale of team and promotes a cohesive attitude.

  • Establish staffing/resources plans determining the appropriate mix of sourcing opportunities. Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness.

COMPLIANCE:

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures and all aspects of Diversity reporting (internally and externally).

SCOPE/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operates with goals set by the DVP/Senior Director of Category and Finance.

  • Key Organizational Relationships: Chief Procurement Officer, Commercial Head of Divisions, Global Procurement Leadership, Manufacturing Head of Divisions, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer, Head of Legal and Head of Operations.

BUDGET:

  • Manage and control Supplier Diversity budget.

  • Understand and control financial implications of the diverse spend.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA or equivalent experience required: MBA preferred. Successful, 10+ year track record within procurement and supply chain management.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leading supplier diversity programs.

  • Experience leading multiple teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Effective public speaker preferred.

  • Demonstrate strong influential power and execution abilities; attention to detail is a must.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Robust people skills that include developing strong relationships and solving problems.

  • Strong use of spreadsheet programs.

  • Excellent interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.

  • Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.

  • Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management.

  • Good negotiating skills.

  • Experience leading and influencing teams.

The base pay for this position is $143,300.00 – $286,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
