HUB International Vice President, Employee Benefits in Abbotsford, British Columbia

Position Summary :

Reporting to the Chief Sales Officer, the Vice President (VP) of Employee Benefits will lead sales growth, business development, and client service excellence within the Employee Benefits (EB) Division. The VP will coach and motivate a high-performance sales team, oversee the execution of sales plans, and ensure operational excellence while maintaining compliance with HUB's standards. This role will focus on driving organic growth through cross-selling, up-selling, and client retention, while collaborating with leadership to implement strategic initiatives and monitor performance to meet profitability goals.

Responsibilities :

  • Sales Leadership: Develop and execute an annual sales plan for the Employee Benefits team, to achieve sales targets, drive growth, and ensure the profitability of the branch operations. Provide proactive coaching, training, and support to enhance sales techniques, closing abilities, and pipeline management.

  • Business Development: Drive organic sales growth through cross-selling, up-selling, and identifying new business opportunities. Monitor and track sales performance and ensure that both top-line and bottom-line growth targets are met.

  • Client & Account Management: Attend client and prospect meetings as needed to drive new business and ensure client satisfaction. Manage existing client relationships, addressing concerns and ensuring ongoing account growth.

  • Client Service Excellence: Guide the team in building strong client relationships by prioritizing service excellence and adapting to client needs. Provide mentorship on sales and client service behaviors that enhance retention and satisfaction. Lead initiatives to improve client retention by identifying the causes of client losses and implementing strategies to strengthen long-term relationships and drive growth.

  • Team Management: Lead the sales team by setting clear expectations and performance standards. Hold the team accountable to meet business goals and ensure effective utilization of CRM (CORE) and sales tools. Oversee team onboarding, offboarding, and succession planning to ensure long-term growth and development.

  • Collaboration & Strategy Execution: Work closely with the Chief Sales Officer (CSO), sales leadership, and cross-functional teams to identify cross-sell opportunities, drive new business initiatives, and develop strategies for market expansion and other key initiatives.

  • Compliance & Performance Monitoring: Ensure adherence to company policies, compliance checklists, and critical procedures. Track team sales metrics and provide regular performance reports to leadership, ensuring progress toward goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Industry Expertise : Ideally 10 years of progressive leadership and sales experience in the employee benefits insurance industry.

  • Licensing: Valid Life License (LLQP) in British Columbia (or obtained within 6 months).

  • Leadership: Proven track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams, sales planning, and execution.

  • Sales & Business Acumen: Demonstrates a results-oriented approach with a proven ability to drive sales and business growth within the employee benefits industry. Leverages strategic business insight to align sales initiatives with organizational goals, enhancing operational efficiency and client retention.

  • Employee Benefits Insurance Knowledge: Advanced insurance knowledge in Employee Benefits processes, procedures, and underwriting.

  • Communication & Relationship Skills : Exceptional written and verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and drive success.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to track performance and sales metrics.

  • Education: Successful completion of post-secondary education is preferred.

  • Certifications : CEBS, CALU, CIM, and other designations are preferred.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Compensation –

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $175,000.00, with the ability to earn a bonus based on performance. The base salary will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope, and level.
