We are seeking an exceptional and passionate executive to join our SVOD content acquisition team in Tokyo and secure the most compelling content for our SVOD customers, with a focus on Anime content. The role will have the key responsibility for identifying selection and building partnerships with producers, studios and content owners toward driving Anime content selection for the service. The individual in this role will have deep understanding of various aspects including deal structuring, projecting performance, driving relationships with partners with the mission of providing high quality content to our customers. This role will involve negotiating deals, managing licensing agreements and analyzing internal and external data to make high impact strategic decisions.

Key job responsibilities

-Negotiate and execute SVOD content licensing agreements on behalf of Prime Video with anime rights holders, publishers, anime production houses, TV networks, aggregators and other types of content suppliers across various business models.

-Leverage data on customer behavior, usage and consumption to inform decision-making for content acquisition and uncover new content genres for customers.

-Internally, develop content acquisition plans, financial metrics, and goals for senior management.

-Externally, establish and manage strong relationships with content providers at a senior level.

-Develop a deep understanding of financial analysis, content performance forecasting, promotional rights clearance for content promotions.

-Collaborate with internal teams across all functional areas (legal, finance, marketing, programming & strategy) within Prime Video to define content strategies, execute content licensing agreements and support content promotion activities.

Basic Qualifications

-Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

-5+ years of experience in an account management, licensing, business development role or production development with regards to Japanese TV anime content.

-Strong critical thinking skills that allow for attention to detail as well as the ability to be highly entrepreneurial in a largely structured environment.

-Direct connections to key anime players (i.e. major anime productions, eminent anime producers, etc.) related to major video content distribution.

-Proven ability negotiating complex agreements and legal contracts.

-Strong data analysis and quantitative skills.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong numerical and analytical aptitude, proven negotiating skills.

-Ability to adapt to a quickly in a changing, fast-paced international environment.

-Maintain a can-do attitude and willingness and flexibility to solve problems at short notice, using any tools necessary.

-Language skills: Professional business fluency in Japanese and business level English.

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience in producer role of Japanese TV anime content.

-Experience in assessing projects in early stages of development.

-Knowledge of digital video landscape, including solid understanding of digital video distribution technologies.

-Experienced with end-to-end ownership of major project deliverables.

-Excellent business judgment and demonstrated ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.

-Ability to understand product and technical requirements and interface with Product/Technology teams
